 Progressive Cavity/Helical Rotor Pumps

The principle of the progressive cavity pump (PCP) invented in the early thirties by the French engineer René Moineau, (other trademarks include Allweiler, Bombas Azcue, Bombas Itur, Bellin, Bornemann, CMO, CSF, Cemo, Holz, Kiesel, Moyno, Mono, Orbit, Nemo, Netzsch, Novarotors, PCM, Ramoy, Seepex & Wangen) is already well proven but its possibilities of application are constantly increasing. Progressive cavity pumps are designed to convey viscous, abrasive, heterogeneous, shear-sensitive and frothing fluids.

A helical rotor pump consists of a helical metallic rotor which rotates inside an elastic helical stator. The rotor is precision machined from hardened steel with the stator being an abrasion resistant injection-moulded elastomer. The geometry and dimensions of these parts are designed so that a double string of sealed chambers (or cavities) are formed when the rotor turns into the stator. The chambers progress axially from the suction to the discharge port of the pump, carrying the fluid.

Many advantages result from the helical rotor principle :

-        High suction lift capabilities
The optimised sealing between the rotor and the stator enables  progressive cavity pumps to possess a particularly high suction lift capability.
-        Self-priming
-        Constant non-pulsating flow
-        Volumetric accuracy
Flow directly proportional to the speed of rotation and independent of pressure. Accurate dosing of difficult products is possible by increasing the number of stages.
-        High efficiency
-        Excellent pressure stability
-        Easy handling of high viscosity and abrasive fluids
-        Ability to transfer multiphase fluids
Mono pumps are able to convey large quantities of air, vapour or gas in a fluid without any running disturbance.
-        Preservation of product integrity
-        Simple design
A single rotating element (a rotor) within an elastomeric stator. Only a single shaft requires sealing.
-        Valve-less operation
-        Reversible flow direction
